Since 1987 NTNU has been the university where Norway's Meteorological Institute, met.no, has executed its operational weather models. From 2000-2006 they executed them on the SGI computers Gridur and Embla, and since November 2006 on the IBM computer Njord. However, met.no only uses a part of the calculation capacity that is available. The rest is used by both local and national students and scientists.
