Serious security vulnerability in the Linux kernel forces us to turn off 32bit support.
Users can get root access on Stallo without any password by running a simple program.
Due to an unfixed bug in the Linux kernel users can get root privileges by running a simple program downloadable from the net.
To close this security hole we have to turn off the support for 32bit applications on Stallo. This should not affect regular use as almost all applications on stallo are 64bit. However, we do not have full insight in what applications users compile themselves so this might affect some users. Please contact support-uit@notur.no if your programs suddenly stop working.
We are sorry for the problems this change imposes on our users research, we will support 32bit applications as soon as the problem is fixed.
The HPC-Team.
